Helping to create a healthier community
We use the enjoyment and fun elements of sport to improve the health of our community. We are very focused on the need to utilize sport to improve both physical health such as cardiovascular disease, cancer, and diabetes and mental health.
We are very mindful that the British Bangladeshi community has the highest rate of Type 2 Diabetes within the whole of Europe. We use sport to address this issue by the effects of improving insulin sensitivity, lowering blood sugar levels, lowering the risk of other health complications and improving cholesterol levels within the body.
In addition, we are conscious that exercise strengthens the heart muscle, lowers blood pressure, improves lung function and reduces stress hormones.
Our community like others in the UK, faces mental health challenges and with this in mind, we use the positive benefits of exercise, social interaction and friendships to create better mental health outcomes.
